This is a lovely pub but under bad management. Hopefully, one day, a nice well adjusted person will run it.

I agree, I haven't been back in the last few years. This used to be such a nice place, great music from the juke box and live performances all with such a great atmosphere. sadly the place took a change for the worse and I gradually moved away to find alternative places to drink.
I hope to go back one day but sadly I dont think it will hold the charm it once did.

Does The Brave New World have a website or email address?

What ever happened to the great bass player Nigel Hardy? He was the tops! Think he played with Chris Cutler at one point in Earl'sCourt? Maybe not.

Nigel plays bass for Steve Whalley, has done for years now.

Been there quite a few times recently. Always seems very nice to me. Bar staff are friendly enough and the music's been really good.

yep... sure gone down the toilet since i first started playing there and it is a pity no one has gone to hear paul ryan because he is the most outstanding covers artist i have ever heard - he used to play down at the ferry in long ditton and was known as "the human jukebox" - anyone know where he is playing now?

johnny toupee aught to walk around with his eyes open... i saw pr down there only the other night - maria's fab - check her out...

Steve Walley still plays circuit, look out for The Globe in Brentford.....

Sorry, but who is it? Steve Walley, Warley or Whalley?

I used to see Steve play at the Mulberry Tree in Twickenham during the mid 1980's. Me and my mate "Wheelchair" rated him very highly.

According to The Globe in Brentford it is Steve Whalley.....

I remember getting particularly drunk on Absinthe there once.

Does anyone remember the Oven Club in the Bun Shop's back room? Hot and sweaty, but good bands and comedy.
I first saw Joe Brand there.

The Bun Shop was great. When I used to live on King Charles Road I'd go there and watch the live music and comedy. I saw Jo Brand gig there once, though I don't remember seeing her husband Russell there.

Ha, I used to live there (my Mum and Dad ran The Bun Shop), it was a great up-bringing, lots of happy memories - does anyone remember Tim Vine's debut in The Oven too?

I used to work behind the bar in the Bun Shop in 1983. At that time I was at college and earning a bit of money there to pay my rent and college fees. Fay and Jim were landlady and landlord at that time. Does anyone still know them? I really enjoyed working there. Great guests, great atmosphere! :o)

Hi would love to know your real name fay and Jim were my mum and dad and if you worked at the bun shop then I would have known you - it really was a great pub sadly my parents both died- dad 1 year after leaving pub (1989) and mum in 1991 but I have very happy memories of it although I have to say I haven't pulled a pint since Kerry

Hi. My name is Shari & I worked in The Bun Shop in 1989. I just saw your post, as for years I've been trying to find Jim, who I'm guessing was your father. Jim & your mom, (who I didn't know), Ian & Elaine, Stu & his wife were the owners. Though many years later, I'm so sorry for your loss. If I'm not talking about the same Jim, please forgive me. If it is the same Jim, I am in shock right now. I am from the U.S., went home late 89', and lost touch with Jim not that long after. Now I understand why I couldn't find him. He was a very special friend to me. Aside from us being friends, I have such wonderful memories of working,(all 3 bars, day & nite shifts), & playing there. Not sure if I know how to send this message, but if you get it I would be very grateful if you could respond. My email is: sharifay18@yahoo.com. Thank you so much. Not sure of your name, or if I knew you or not, but I hope we get to communicate.

Hi Kerry - hasn't Mount Street changed since our childhood? Physically maybe similar but the sense of community all gone. I miss the old days at school. Hope you are well - sorry to hear about your parents. Wonder where Mrs. Hoffman is now?

Hi Kerry - yes we were classmates under Miss Hoffman. together with Ian Straiton, Marc Umhoefer, Yael and Merav, Ashraf and Mohammed, the Sarony Twins, Vicky Bond, Constantine Galonis and others. I am often around Mount Street even now. But all those in the area have no idea on the history of the place. I hope you are well - if you ever come up to London I will happily buy you a drink at the old pub! I was sorry to hear about your Mum and Dad. Mr. Lothian also passed away a few years ago: he was wandering around Mount Street Gardens well into his old age and I occasionally bumped into him there. Be well. Can you guess my name? A clue: I am male.

Hi -yes Mount Street has changed -would quite like to live there now! Would also like to know who are you??? Obviously someone who knew me Pre Surbiton days?

Hi Kerry, I only saw your reply now! A year later! My real name is Gudrun Ahlers, but I was called Goodie by everyone. I am from Germany and I stayed in England from 1982 - 1989. I cannot remember you right now... can you contact me via my email address, Gudrun.ahlers@web.de ? I am more likely to read your reply then and we can catch up on old memories :-) Would be great! Gudrun (Goodie)

I remember seeing Tim Vine, but when it was The Magical Animal Dream Factory. When was it The Bun Shop? I am guessing MADF 1995/1996?

I used to go there on Friday nights to see The Steve Warley Band...long time ago. What ever happened to Steve Warley? He was brilliant!

He joined Slade for a while on tour replacing Noddy, that was a while back, think he still gigs locally though

Have definite date April 27th Steve Whalley Band at Globe Brentford.... Hope you can be there. Kim

Pity its lost the cosiness of The Bun Shop,I used to drink regularly there after work and it was a great palce to wind down.

I thought at first it was a "new age" shop about to flog crystals etc, does anyone use this place on looks alone it one star.

WOW IT IS THE MOST FANTISTIC MUSIC BAR ON EARTH, THE BUN SHOP WAS A GREAT VENUE BUT THE BRAVE NEW WORLD IS 1000 TIMES BETTER, FEMALE FRIENDLY, TOP ARTISTS AND GREAT BAR STAFF

I used to drink in the Bun Shop before it bcame a Brave New World. It was a great buzz there and surprise surprise the barman there introduced me to Buddhism. So I have been chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo now since 1979 and I still enjoy a pint. If you are interested to find out more view www.sgi-uk.org
