INTRODUCTION TO HORTICULTURE AND FARMING AT HILLCROFT COLLEGE : Start Date: Monday16th April to Friday 29th June 2012

This exciting and new addition to Hillcroft is for all those who enjoy working outdoors and is ideal if you want to start a career in land-based industries,
including countryside and horticulture.

Run over 10 weeks of residential study the course will cover woodland sites, plant maintenance and countryside. Delivered through practical and theory lessons, at both Hillcroft and Merrist Wood College’s 400 acre estate incorporating woodland, wetland, livestock and grasslands.
The course includes:
• Preparation and monitoring of livestock outdoors
• Maintaining the safety of self and others in the work place
• Preparing and planting containers for display
• Functional skills in Math’s, English and ICT
• Confidence Building and Employability
Skills which will equip you for work and progression onto further land based studies.
