Southborough history

Dear all,

I wonder if anyone here can help me in my research of the history of Southborough?

I would particularly like to find out about the following points:

1) what was the precise layout and extent of the Ace of Spades Roadhouse, including swimming pool, dance hall, airstrip etc?
2) did the Ace of Spades indeed "burn down"? If so, when exactly?
3) when was the building currently known as Southborough High School built? (Our architect suggests mid 1950's)
4) given that Southborough School only opened in March 1963, what organisation or institution occupied the building from (say) 1956 to 1963? A colleague tells me that it was a Technical Institute of some sort. If so, why did it move / close down?

If you can help with any of these queries, do post an answer or e-mail me on nsmith@southborough.kingston.sch.uk . Any help gratefully received!

Kind regards,
