Surbiton Post Office

Why oh why is Surbiton Post Office so smelly and scruffy? It's bad enough having to go into the cramped newsagents at all, never mind walking to the back area that consists of the Post Office where there is invariably a queue of at least eight people and it is so stuffy as well. The whole place smells like a farmyard. The post office carpet must have been there for around 40 years, it is filthy and needs a good hoover. We need a revamped Post Office in our lovely Surbiton, perhaps like the clean modernised one in New Malden. Does anyone else agree?

I prefer not to waste my life in the Surbiton post office. It sucks! I use Mailbox for all my post. They are always welcoming and very helpful. Shop and staff are always immaculate and I have never had to wait. Not saying that I would want PO to disappear, It is a valuable asset. I think it would be nice if they took as much pride over it and their customers as Mail Box does. As for Martins, same applies...

I agree, I like Mailbox but the last time I asked about posting a parcel they said they couldn't give me proof of postage! So back to the smelly Post Office I went.

have to say mailboxes is a rip off, they put 20 - 30% extra on top compared to the post office price, you get smiles but at a cost!

No so worried about the scrufy appearance tho, but the service is appauling. There are about 6 booths, and I have never seen more than 3 "manned" at any time and the queue is often huge, with everyone seeming to be involved in complex transactions.
As always, at lunchtimes, the busy time of the day, the staff are also at lunch, so there the manned booths may go down to one at these times.

Not exactly great customer service

I always yhink it smells of urine in there. I stay on the bus and go to Kingston Post office

Yes, urine is a polite way of saying it I suppose. Why dont they clean the place up? Its disgusting.

The reason it smells of 'urine' is because it is 'urine'

As you walk in, look up to the ceiling to the right of the shop (Martins) just above the counter, you will see what is a leak from the toilet in the room above. The manager of Martins said the landlord is aware but doing nothing about it

Health & Safety laughable when it suits!

I went in there today and after reading the previous post, I automatically looked up to the ceiling. I don't know if the Landlord reads surbiton.com but two of the ceiling tiles were missing, as if the builders were in. Perhaps this post has prompted some action. I sincerely hope so. Especially in this hot weather ...

boycott then until it is repaired. To think it could have landed on me
