World cycling stars will be racing around ‘Wiggo corner’ again hot on the heels of 20,000 amateur cyclists as RideLondon comes to Kingston this summer.
Some of the best road-cyclists who tore through the borough’s streets during the Olympics will return in August for a new two-day festival developed by the Mayor of London. The event will also feature a race for 20,000 amateur cyclists, before the roads give way to 150 professionals taking part in Ride Classic London.
Residents and businesses have been advised to prepare for road closures of the same scale as those during the summer’s Olympic ceremony. The main races will take place on Sunday, August 4, and the roads surrounding the route will be closed during this time.
Between 6.50am and 10am 20,000 cyclists will travel along the route on their way to Surrey, returning between 9.30am to 3pm. Professionals will be hot on their wheels from 1.15pm to 1.45pm, returning through Kingston on the south side between 4:45pm to 5:45pm.

6:50am to 10am
20,000 cyclists will travel through the north side of Kingston from Richmond Park along Queen’s Road, Kingston Hill, London Road, Cromwell Road, Richmond Road, Sopwith Way, Wood Street, Horse Fair and Kingston Bridge on their way to Surrey.
9:30am to 3pm
The 20,000 cyclists will return to the borough on their return leg to central London, travelling through the south side of Kingston by Portsmouth Road, High Street, Eden Street, Clarence Street, Fairfield North, London Road and Coombe Road.
1:15pm to 1:45pm
150 professional cyclists and support vehicles will pass through Kingston on the north side on their way to Surrey, using the same outbound route as outlined above.
4:45pm to 5:45pm
Professional cyclists and support vehicles will pass through Kingston on the south side on their return to central London using the same inbound route as outlined above.
