Who will parade behind the giant goat-boy at this year's Seething Festival?

The surreal memories of last year’s suburban skiing must make way for another of Surbiton’s beloved barmy events, made extra special in the leap year.

The Seething Festival, which celebrates the battle between legendary goat-boy Lefi Ganderson and evil giant Thamas Deeton, will take over the town with a colourful and energetic procession, before setting up camp in St Andrew’s Square.

The last few years have seen stilt-walkers, musicians, cheesemakers, talcum miners, taxonomist and water bearers make up the parade behind the goat-boy.

Leap years are special in Surbiton, as the legend of Lefi Ganderson tells that every four years the Seething villagers do something to help others in honour of the goat-boy’s selflessness in saving the town from the giant. The day after the festival, February 29, will see a celebration of good deeds and give people the chance to do something positive. To make a pledge write it on a note and deposit it in the box at the Lamb pub in Brighton Road.

In the next few months Surbiton will host the Surbiton Food Festival, the Sardine Festival and more.
