Tolworth subway to be filled in

£4m TfL grant will pay for pelican crossing.

A considerable amount will be spent on the redevelopment of Tolworth Broadway to create more pleasant public space and to increase safety and security by providing better street lighting and signage.

Other schemes include a £585,000 grant for improvements for cyclists and pedestrians across and £529,000 for school and work travel plans to encourage pupils and employees to walk or use public transport.

Yet another traffic blocking scheme, why cant the subway be made safe, clean and well lit at all times.
For £4m you could employ two security men around the clock for 40 years assuming total ppi costs of £100k pa.

Traffic must be kept moving or both the Broadway and Surbiton/Kingston shops will eventually suffer catastrophic loss of business as any normal person with a car will shop at out of town sites.

Perhaps Tesco would be willing to fund total security around the Broadway area?
