i was born aug 19,1944, and i attended surbiton high school from kindergarten until i was eleven when our family moved to the u.s.a.in 1955. i have the greatest memories of the wonderful teachers, including miss La Good. my sister coralie gerda hyde attended surbiton high from 1953-55. she passed away after a long bout with cancer in 1981. i am so happy to find the school on the web. i can recall playing sports at the grounds at the end of st.mary's rd. in long ditton. and walking to the swimming lessons. these were very happy days. and which gave me a great foundation for my later academic career.. and gave me respect for the money my parents sacrificed to send us girls to such a very nice school. i would like to make a small contribution to the endowment and visit you one day. i would love to find and say hello to my childhood friend rosemary hodges who was in my class and who lived at saxonbury near us in long ditton.
Hi Felicity, I wonder if you ever contacted Rosemary Hodges? I am researching the house called Saxonbury in Long Ditton as I now live close by, I would really love to see a photo of the original house , I presume that is where she lived - sadly the big house was pulled down in the 1960s and new homes built there. If you managed to get in touch with Rosemary, could you please ask her to kindly contact me : sara.stone88@yahoo.co.uk or maybe you could contact me and I could give you more information. Many thanks.
At present i attend Surbiton High School.
If you want to visit the school, you can get in contact with the school's reception - they would love to hear from past pupils! Our new principal is Ann Haydon, we celebrated our 125th anniversary a couple of months back.
The name 'Rosemary Hodges' comes to mind, i think she might have contacted the school because i remember hearing the name in a school assembly??
