Quality and value!? - Hardly!
As a surbiton local, I was excited at the prospect of a new and exciting Italian restaurant opening up, but was absolutely appalled by my visit. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cold and stilted, and filled with several other couples quietly poking their overpriced and in-edible food around their plates. Both my wife and I are keen fans of Italian cooking, but the food offered up to us that night barely passed as edible! The meat dish my wife has was over cooked to such a point that it was barely possible to cut, let alone chew, while the bog standard tomato sauce that it floated in was barely lukewarm and tasteless. Now, as a person who likes pasta, I am a fan of my taglietelle being cooked to "Al dente"; yet mine was undercooked to the point that it was like eating hardened rubber bands that snapped in my mouth and cemented themselves in my teeth! When I mentioned this to the overly pretencious manager, he snootily claimed that it was merely Al dente, and was intended to be this way, before taking the plate with an overblown sigh back to kitchen to be boiled to death.
All in all an abismal atmosphere, coupled with unpalletable food and shockingly rude service.
(Apparently after only 8 months the owners are already trying to sell the place - After my experience it's not hard to see why)
